Thu-it [Truth] (pronounced Tha-eet) is a self-guided, multi-media walk-through experience that takes you through over 150 years of colonial history — and the impact it has had and continues to have on Indigenous communities, families, and individuals. Told through archival material, images, audio, and video, and rooted in the stories and experiences of Quw’utsun’ Elders, Thu-it invites participants to reconsider what they were taught, and to discover Thu-it — Truth. The exhibit first ran in Duncan, BC in the fall of 2022. This weekend, a condensed version comes to Salt Spring Island for a limited four-day run during the Salt Spring Indigenous People’s weekend.
